One day the Pharisees brought an adulterous woman before Jesus, and they were shocked that Jesus did not condemn her to death as they expected. Jesus gave that woman a second chance. When you hear issues about your brother or sister, be measured in how you wish him or her condemned or finished. Others have lost their zest to try something else because of what someone told them. It may be in school, a work, in church or even your parents at home! The way we correct mistakes could leave permanent scares on people.
It is very possible to have a hearing before the king but those around the king or big man will never give you a dog chance to the King for restitution. That is human nature for you – We so easily condemn others, forgetting that we also are not perfect. Growing up there was a poem by William Hickson we use to say in a paraphrased form: “Try again is a lesson you must heed for if at first you don’t succeed, Try again, then your courage will appear, for if only you will persevere you will never never fail, Try again”.
Mr. Akrofi is an elderly man who approached me to polish his Organ playing as an organist for a church. We worked very intimately for about 2 years. During the second year I decided to register him for ABRSM grade
5 Piano. We struggled with scales : The harmonic and Melodic Minors, arpeggios etc. but we finally got it.
Mr. Akrofi was mostly nervous any time we had to do a quiz but with a lot of encouragement he decided to face the exams. Well, the results came and he missed the pass mark by 2 points. I said everything I could
but he was not ready to sit for the exam again. All the gains we made, there was no certification to show for it.
One phrase the Bible gives to the enemy is ACUSER OF THE BRETHREN. When this bad spirit works in your life, you will always focus on your failures, telling yourself the mistake can happen again- people will laugh
at you- focusing on people who have failed doing a similar thing, hearing voices telling you that it is not possible etc.
1. See or imagine the positive side of mistakes. Encourage yourself to try again. Not because of people but because God wants you to be excellent.
2. There are people who focus on the fear of making mistakes because they always have been laughing at others’ mistakes. The adage goes that the one who slashes peoples’ throats never sleeps headupwards.
3. Mistakes serve as a pedestal for self consciousness and they drive us to perfection and efficiency.
4. When mistakes lead you to fear, it wastes your time in life and you may gnash your teeth in the
final analyses.
5. No one was created as a mistake. I have made several mistakes but I press on to correct them for a better life ahead.
6. Very tough and robust systems are built from several mistakes and the resolve of the developers
not to relent or have their patrons and competitors outwit them.
